California Research
Good: Online Store Reports
California legislative history research is comprised primarily of separate research sources, e.g., governor files, committee files, author’s files, partisan caucus files, etc. The Online Store Reports contain only those bill files we already have in-house, so it may not have all of them, but it is a great starting point for gaining an understanding the Legislature’s intent. Each report will be available for immediate download, and will only cost $275 apiece.
Better: Core Reports
LRI’s Core Reports are designed to give you a fundamental understanding of what your bill intended to accomplish. Each report will contain all available bill files (not just those we have in-house), but only for the main bill, the one that became law. We will not include follow-up research on items cited to, such as failed bills, interim hearings, etc. Each Core Report comes with a signed authentication, basic document organization within each source, and a simple Table of Contents.

Specialty Research: Hourly Projects
Some research projects required specialized research methodologies. We bill these as hourly projects. Some examples include: research into old bills (1850-1942), budget trailer bills, propositions, and so on. Although we typically need 5-8 hours to complete each project, you can authorize as much or as little time as you’d like.
